Firstly, let me apologise for being so lax in the updating of my confessional. I have been genuinely quite busy. It was completely necessary for me to win that last immunity necklace and thus I had to spend a day locked into it. I only had a few hours where I could realistically do it. The end result is that I had no time to update this.
Even today, things are far from settled. In fact, a very easy vote has been made needlessly complicated. It's annoying, but when it's all you have to work with, what choice is there?
From day one on this tribe I was in a bad place. I don't believe I was the first target, that award goes firmly to Elyse. But I do think I was a solid runner up. I would've been the second boot for sure. Obviously this was not a state of affairs I could allow to continue, so I changed it.
I can't take full credit for the move happening here today. It was tied together by a number of people and it took a number of stages to get right. The first step was in throwing out the notion of four people building a power alliance to gain majority control of the tribe. That would be myself, Elyse, Judd and Ibe.
This step wasn't hard. Ibe pretty much agreed with everything I said on the first conversation about it. I find him to be a hard man to talk to. To say he's a closed book would be...understating it. Most of his replies are three words or less, much like the damned idol clue. Maybe Ibe is the key to unlocking the idol?
Elyse wanted the same thing and came to me with it, so I even let her take credit for the idea. It's not the only thing she's taken credit for. Apparently the vote out for Jonas was her choice too. Amazing how somebody with such supposed power and control is the first target, isn't it?
Then came Judd. He already wanted to work with me before tribal lines were drawn so I was less worried about him, although I feel like he's flaked a bit and his paranoia will be the death of him. He gets far too emotional when it comes to votes and it's hard to rely on somebody who lets their feelings get the better of their actions. Like a certain young dragonslayer I can think of.
So far so good. We had four and things should have been easy. The challenge came around and I pushed with all my might to win. It took many, many attempts to get those scores but I knew it would be needed. Surely enough, Elyse nearly took the lead but I just edged my way through. Very pleased that I tried. Not having immunity this round would have been catastrophic to say the least.
And so things seemed good. We had four and it should have been clear cut. But it isn't. Elyse was dead set on the target being Brandon, to the point where it began to get obsessive. I know a little bit about obsessively chasing a target, but it was truly breath-taking to behold it in another. Is this really what I sounded like back then? Foreshame unto my past self. Thankfully with rebirth, I can do things right this time.
What made it more complicated is that Elyse has been grooming Candice for the vote too. Now this could go one of two ways, but it's the stray element that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I'll get to the full impact of why this is in a moment. For now, it meant that Elyse was confident that both her and Candice were hitting Brandon with a vote. This meant persuading Judd to vote Brandon, something he was not initially comfortable with.
The alternative would've been getting myself, Judd and Ibe to all vote for Mikayla. Even if Elyse and Candice really did both vote for Brandon, we would have the majority on Mikayla. If not, and if Brandon, Mikayla and Candice all voted for Elyse, we would have tied it with 3 votes Elyse, 3 Mikayla. So we decided that whatever happened, we would wind up safe and agreed to rest the whole thing on Judd's decision.
Eventually Judd came on and told me that he wanted to go for Brandon. He's been paranoid, which has made things harder but the end result is the majority fell on Brandon. There are some unsettling things about it all though which I'll go into shortly, as well as some of the issues we've had in making what seemed like a straightforward vote.
Elsewhere...
Feroca: My only point of contact in this tribe is Eliza who has been scarce with her activity today. And Eliza seems firmly on the outs anyway. I don't think people are telling her things so she's not really a great means of intel. Either way, it seems obvious that Phillip will be voted out. Why wouldn't he? It causes so much less of a problem for all parties.
Baci: I'm on good terms with Kourtney but she's closed mouthed about the voting. I think she needs more of a reason to trust me. I can work on that one later. I have made somewhat of a more solid connection with Sean though. He said he wants to work together if we swap to the same tribe. I know his name is the Turncoat and he has a...reputation. But if he feels endangered, he'd nonetheless be useful. More independent allies are helpful right now than harmful. Voting target should be Neleh unless something is seriously wrong.
Kudumu: Sekou is the target, but his attempt at raiding the volcano has taken its toll. Now Kim wants to split the vote in a fit of paranoia, something which could ultimately break apart the tribe and fracture things severely. She's potentially looking to split things onto Colby, who probably won't take that well. Colby and Boston Rob are very close, so turning that pair against her will be a bad move which is good for me. Kim as we have already discussed, is the devil after all.
Poseidon: I'm on friendly terms with Mary...surprisingly. I've never talked to Pete and Rob C. Cochran is my second number 2, in an alliance I'm dubbing "The Onion Knights". This is based on his onion strategy that he told me. I've reached out to Carter this round and helped him out with the idol clues. I feel like he trusts me and could be a useful connection to make. With regards to the target, unless a lot of people are lying and deceiving (which they almost certainly are), it'll be Jason.
